Udupi: Minister Vinay Kumar Sorake Inaugurates High-tech women Fish Market in Kota

Udupi: The High-tech women Fish Market built by the Gram Panchayat Kota, Coastal Development Authority and National Fish Development Board Hydarabad was inaugurated at Kota here on July 25.

The programme began with an invocation, Chandra Achar welcomed the gathering. Vinay Kumar Sorake district minister in-charge and also state Urban development minister inaugurated the new High-tech fish market.

In his message Vinay Kumar Sorake said that the Government was committed to the welfare of the fisherwomen. The fish market in Kota which has been built at an estimated cost of Rs 75 lakhs, out of which Rs 30 Lakh has been utilized for the building, remaining Rs 45 lakh would be used to provide basic infrastructure.

He also said that the farmers and the members of SHGs are receiving loans at concessional rates. The programmes like Revenue Adalat, Pension Adalat, Annabhagya, Akrama-Sakrama are all helping in alleviating poverty, he said.

CDC chairmen Nivedith Alva in his introductory remarks said that the state government allotted a budget of Rs 10 crore for the Costal Development Authority. In this budget the Authorities decided to develop tourism facility, Hanging bridges and markets, he said.

Vanitha Sridhar president of Kota grama Panchayat presided over the function, Fisheries board president Hiriyanna Chatrabettu, Kota CA Bank president G Thimma Poojary, former GP president M Shiva Poojary, Brahmavar Special Thasildar Tippeswami, Udupi TPEO Rajendra Bekal, Fisheries Department assistant director M D Prasad, Kota GP vice president Rajaram Shetty, Pradeep D’Souza, PDO Subhas and others were present.
