DULT officers suggested the City Municipality Council to construct bus station in 1.5 acre out of the 5 acre land used by fisherwomen to dry fish as it would reduce traffic problems in Malpe and would ease the harbor operations.

MLA Pramod said that the administration should exclude 1.5 acres of land from the 5 acres while leasing the land to fisherwomen.

DULT officials said that they have gathered public opinion on the traffic problems in Manipal. The present traffic system causes accidents. An effective bus stand in Manipal will solve major traffic issues. Skywalks, traffic signal and parking facilities have been recommended for Manipal.

There are 5 bays in the Udupi City Bus Stand covering an area of 3240 sq.m. The present bus stand is creating hurdles for passengers as well as other vehicles. Pramod Madhwaraj said that the CMC officials should consult the SP on traffic issues. “The DPR will be implemented with due consultations with public and bus operators,” he said.

“3.9 acres of land belonging to the PWD department has been recommended for building a KSRTC bus stand. Since Malpe to Agumbe is a National Highway, the implementation of the DPR will help passengers who travel by City, Express and KSRTC buses,” he added.

CMC President Yuvraj, Vice-President Amrutha Krishnamurthy, SP K Annamalai, Tahsildar Guruprasad, CMC Commissioner D Manjunathayya, CMC Standing Committee President Vijay Manchi, Department Heads, CMC members and others were present.
