Later, on the next day, Awez with his uncle visited Malpe Police Station along with Sampath. The police constables and PSI Ravikumar allegedly thrashed Awez and Sampath and abused them using foul language. Shafiq also said that the police threatened them of fixing them in a cattle trafficking case.

The students protested in front of the SP’s office and demanded the police officials to suspend PSI Ravikumar and 5 constables and urged them to initiate an inquiry.

Superintendent of Police Annamalai pacified the protesting students. He said that a student had used foul language against the police constable who had called the student over the phone. He also said that the constable had called Sampath to inquire about the stolen mobile phone which he was operating.

Annamalai said that a theft case will be booked against the two students. The case of using foul language against the police constable will be investigated. He also said that the alleged assault on two students by Malpe PSI Ravikumar and 5 constables will also be investigated. He refused to suspend PSI Ravikumar and 5 constables saying that an investigation was necessary in this regard.
