Udupi Records Highest Single-day Spike of 421 Coronavirus Positive Cases on August 18
Udupi: According to the district health bulletin, 421 persons have tested positive for the Coronavirus in Udupi on August 18 taking the total number of positive cases in the district to 8659.
Among the 421 new cases, 203 are in Udupi, 158 in Kundapur, 50 in Karkala, and 10 from outside the district.
As many as 142 cases are symptomatic and 279 are asymptomatic. Among them, 224 are male and 197 female out of which 150 persons contracted the infection from primary contacts, 90 have ILI symptoms, 17 have SARI symptoms and 158 are under investigation and 6 person have domestive travel history.
The number of active cases in the district has now gone up to 2637. So far, 5951 patients have been discharged from the hospital after complete recovery, and 78 persons have succumbed to COVID-19.
As of now, 1086 throat swab samples are pending for results, 1837 samples were sent for testing on August 18 and 1200 samples were tested negative. So far, a total of 47824 swab samples out of the 57576 have tested negative for the coronavirus.
