Udupi: Reporter Ashwath Acharya Yedabettu assaulted by group

Udupi: Ashwath Acharya Yedabettu, the Brahmavar zone reporter for Kannada daily, was assaulted by a group near Hadimane Yekadantha Hotel Saligrama here on Thursday February 5.


On February 5, morning Ashwath had gone for his personal work to Saligrama, a group attacked him and threatened his life for writing in the newspaper. They also warned him that they will not spare him if he continues to write about them.

The main attackers have been identified as Manebettu Bhaskar, Ramesh Mendon, Raghvendra Achari and others.

Ashwath had recently written news about the murder case which was reported in Saligrama recently, this attack was a result of the crime news being published in the Kannada Daily. Ashwath however escaped without any injuries. He also received a life threat call from phone number 9743595766 and 9620376717 by an unknown person on his mobile. A case has been registered in Saligrama Police Station.
