UKKCA Celebrates 14th Annual Day with Monthi Fest and Konkani Holy Mass in Bengaluru

Bengaluru, September 14, 2026: The Uttara Kannada Konkani Catholic Association (UKKCA), Bengaluru, celebrated its 14th Annual Day with a solemn Konkani Holy Mass and a vibrant Monthi Fest celebration at St. Patrick’s Church, Brigade Road, Bengaluru.

The event brought together more than 150 members in a celebration of faith, Konkani culture and cherished traditions.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Peter Siddi as the main celebrant, with Rev. Fr. Aloysius Gonsalves and Rev. Fr. Rony Coutinho serving as co-celebrants.

The liturgical celebration was enriched by the choir led by Ms Reena Alphonso, under the guidance of Mr Johnson and Mrs Lucy Fernandes. The melodious Konkani hymns added a special touch to the Mass and evoked a deep connection with the community’s native roots. Altar boys Joel Dias and Norbert Dias rendered dedicated service during the celebration.

The Monthi Fest celebrations featured a Flower Basket Competition, in which 12 children participated enthusiastically. Their beautifully decorated baskets added colour and joy to the traditional procession, reflecting UKKCA’s commitment to preserving Konkani customs and passing them on to the younger generation.

The arrangements for the Monthi Saibin celebration were coordinated by Mr Johnson and Mrs Lucy Fernandes.

As part of the Annual Day programme, UKKCA recognised the academic achievements of its young members. The Grade 10 achievers were Neol Dias, Joel Dias and Tatiana Fernandes, while Luelle Fernandes and Shaun Fernandes were recognised for their achievements in Grade 12.

The association also felicitated senior members Mr James D’Souza and Bonafelix Fernandes in recognition of their valuable contributions and dedicated service to the community.

The programme was compered by MC John Louvis, who kept the gathering engaged throughout the celebration. Mr Godwin Castelino of AlfaGrafia documented the event through photographs and videos, preserving its memorable moments for the community.

The successful celebration was made possible through the planning and coordination of UKKCA President Mr P.D. Fernandes and the Executive Committee, along with the active participation and support of the members.

The 14th Annual Day served as a meaningful occasion to celebrate faith, culture and tradition, strengthen community bonds, and reaffirm UKKCA’s commitment to preserving and promoting Konkani heritage for future generations.
