Union Govt. released Rs 316 crores CRF grant for Udupi–Chikkamagaluru Loksabha constituency – Shobha Karandlaje

Udupi: MP Shobha Karandlaje said that the Central Government has released Rs 316 crores from the Central Road Fund (CRF) towards various development projects in Udupi–Chikkamagaluru Lok Sabha constituency. The release of funds has been done on her recommendations.

Addressing the Media persons at Hotel Kidiyoor on Saturday, February 10, she said that in the last 4 years of her tenure the highest amount of CRF grant was released to the constituency. In 2016-17 Rs 183 crores were released to Udupi and Rs 44 crores to Chikkamagaluru. In 2017-18 Rs 18 crores were released to Udupi and Rs 133 to Chikkamagaluru.

The work order for the preparation of the detailed project report of Malpe-Manipal-Thirthahalli road is approved by the National Highways Authority of India. I have already requested the Union Road transport minister Nitin Gadkari to fasten the tender process of the work. In between the minister has also released sufficient amount for the repair work of Malpe-Manipal-Thirthahalli road, she added.

The Union government has sanctioned Sakhi, a one-stop programme for women in distress, to the district. The building of the Sakhi center has been completed; the Union Child and women welfare minister Menaka Gandhi will be inaugurating the center on March 5. Udupi will act as the center of activities for all the districts in the state. All kinds of assistance, including legal, police, medical help, counselling, temporary support services, will be provided to women in distress under the programme, she added.

BJP leaders will spend a day with the slum dwellers to understand their woes and expand the party’s reach to the slums in all major cities. BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa will stay at Lakshmana Nagar slum in Gandhi Nagar Assembly constituency in Bengaluru. The leader of the Opposition in the Legislative Assembly Jagadish Shettar will participate in a similar programme at Chamundeshwari slum in Hubballi, his council counterpart K S Eshwarappa will lead the drive in Shivamogga, party leaders Govind Karjol in Vijayapura, and Shobha Karandlaje in Mysuru.

Yeddyurappa will also release a report prepared by the BJP Slum Morcha on the living conditions in slums all over the state on February 11 after his night stay at the slum, she said.

The party workers are geared up for the Assembly elections, they will create awareness among the people about the pro-people and welfare measures launched by the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre. From this day onwards we should work to achieve the target of winning at least 150 Assembly seats in Karnataka and bring back the BJP to power to put the State back on the rails of development.

Karnataka has become an unsafe place for the common man to live and has become a safe haven for contract killers. Every month at least one BJP or RSS worker is murdered in Karnataka and the government has not taken any measures to end this killing saga. The law and order situation is in shambles, she added.

District BJP Chief Mattar Rathnakar Hegde, BJP leaders Uday Kumar Shetty, Thingale Vikramarjuna Hegde, Sheela K Shetty, Shyamala Kundaru, Kiran Kumar and others were present.

The MP Shoba claims that the Centre has released Crores of Rupees for development of Malpe-Manipal-Theerthahalli Main Road – but who will pocket and benefit will have to be seen – The road works highway contractor on the Karavali Bi-Pass seems to take his own years in not being able to complete the highway road. Despite all sorts of protests by the general public, the Udupi MPW did not do anything to carry out refurbishment of the main roads and other roads leading to the industrial area before the start of the 2017 monsoon, and the bad state of the… Read more »
