Vande Mataram: Shah blasts Rahul

Koppal: BJP president Amit Shah on Friday lambasted AICC president Rahul Gandhi over the singing of Vande Mataram being truncated at a function attended by the latter.

“I was stunned and shocked to read a WhatsApp message which stated that Mr. Rahul Gandhi, at a public rally at Bantwal in Dakshina Kannada district on Friday, asked the organisers to curtail the singing of Vande Mataram as he was in a hurry. Accordingly, only one stanza of the song was sung. I am pained Mr. Rahul Gandhi gave scant respect to the song. He has no right to continue in Indian politics,” he said, while addressing a public meeting at Kukkanur in Koppal district.

He trained his guns at Mr. Gandhi and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah over their development claim in the past five years. “Has the Congress government given 24 hours power, prevented farmers from committing suicide, checked attacks on women, and maintained law and order. The answer is a ‘no’ from the people. The Congress is only making tall claims,” he charged.

‘Development ignored’

Mr. Shah also accused Mr. Siddaramaiah of ignoring the development of Hyderabad Karnataka region and north Karnataka. Only about 1% of the land holdings were provided irrigation cover. If people vote the BJP to power it will initiate steps for the overall development of not only north Karnataka but the whole State, besides laying thrust on making Koppal district drought-free by providing drip irrigation cover before 2022, he said.

Karadi Sanganna, MP, Halappachar, BJP candidate, Santosh of the BJP organising committee were prominent among others present.
