Vote so as not to help BJP: Mevani
Sirsi: Gujarat MLA Jignesh Mevani, on Thursday, called upon the voters of the state to exercise their franchise in such a way that the BJP did not benefit.
He was speaking after inaugurating the Save Constitution mission here. The legislator said Union Minister Anantkumar Hegde’s utterances on ‘changing the Constitution’ were only a reflection of the decade-old agenda of the RSS and its chief Mohan Bhagwat.
“If the BJP, aided by the Sangh Parivar, wins the election, it will cause the downfall of democracy. Hence, people should vote in a manner that does not help the BJP,” he said.
Mevani claimed that the BJP had cheated the dalits, the poor and the farmers. He asked why the Centre was not acting to prevent farmer suicides. Former minister B T Lalitha Nayak and others were present.
