She Wasn’t Wearing ‘Western’? Burqa Clad Woman Molested in B’luru
Mangaluru: In contrast to the remarks made by State Home Minister Parameshwara that women get molested when there is a large crowd or when women wear western clothes etc etc…but hello, Mr Minister, there had been two other instances of molestation where the women were alone and dressed appropriately. You better take your senseless words back and apologize to these innocent women who were just having some fun on New Years’ Eve just like the men.
Forget about the molestation taken place on the crowded Brigade/MG Road in Bengaluru on New Year’s Eve, how about the incident of a lone woman being groped, molested while she was walking back home on NYE in Kammanahalli, Bengaluru- and now we have yet another molestation case, where once again the woman was walking to catch her bus to work. When ministers make remarks they need to think twice and then spit out their senseless words-just like MP Nalin Kumar Kateel creating controversy with his statement of “Burning Dakshina Kannada?”. Well, now let these both politicians, Kateel and Parameshwara face the opposition and the public for their act.
Even before Bengaluru can recover from the horror of the mass molestation of New Year’s Eve, another horrific incident has come to light. Early yesterday morning around 6.30 am, a young woman in a burqa was harassed on the streets in the KG Halli area. He follows her, she struggles as he pins her to the ground, harassing her. The incident was captured by a CCTV camera installed a nearby tea agency. The victim, who is said to be in her early 20s, was staying at a relatives house in the HBR Layout. She works in a private firm in Koramangala. She was on her way to work on the morning shift when the accused grabbed her as she was crossing the empty stretch of Govindapura Layout.
As she started screaming for help, the street dogs started barking and the accused escaped from the area. The residents rushed to help and took her to Ambedkar Hospital. The CCTV footage has captured the struggle of the girl, who fought hard with her molester. She has injured her tongue and has abrasions on her hands. The footage shows that the incident took place at 6.25 am.
Later she was taken to the KG Halli police station to file a complaint. After the incident, the victim’s relatives who had gone to the spot to check saw the CCTV and requested the owner to show them the footage hoping the details of the accused would be known. “We have collected the footage from the CCTV installed by the owner of the gas agency. The victim is shocked. The search is on for the accused,” the KG Halli police said.
