We are Committed to Find Permanent Solution for Problems in Dist – Basavaraj Bommai

Udupi: “We are committed to work towards finding a permanent solution for the problems of the district like sand, quarry and deemed forest”, said Basavaraj Bommai Udupi district minister in-charge. He was speaking to the media persons after chairing the KDP meeting at the DC office, Manipal on Tuesday, January 7.

Addressing the media persons Bommai said, “I have instructed the officials to complete various housing schemes like Ambedkar Nigama, Valmiki Nigama and Devaraj Urs Nigama within the given time. I have instructed to start the dredging work in the vented dams of the district and hand over the sand to the mines and Geology department. A total of 1,39,000 farmers have registered their names under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Yojana in Udupi district. The benefices have already received the money in 3 instalments and the fourth instalment will be released in the coming days”.

Bommai further said, “For 2019-20 the state government has released Rs 20 crore flood relief grant to the district. Under the grant money has been allocated for various works including rural roads, urban roads and housing projects. Even the Water Resources department also instructed to finalize all the preparations for the project and take up the tender process at the earliest”.

The minister also said, “I have instructed the District SP Vishnuvardhan to take stringent action to eliminate the drug menace. The need for stringent action was felt in the backdrop of increasing drug abuse cases being reported in the district. ‘Importance will be given for eradicating drug menace by getting down to the root cause. Action would be taken to end the supply and consumption of drugs in this region”.
