Women’s Day Celebration at  Mount Carmel Central School

Mangaluru : “A woman is a symbol of love, God’s finest and beautiful creation”. This is what the students of Mount Carmel expressed lovingly to their teachers, mothers and other women as they celebrated the International Women’s Day on March 8, 2017 in the school auditorium.  Classes IV C and D were the hosts for this celebration.
The programme began with an invocation seeking God’s blessings through scripture reading and a prayer dance. Carlton Rodrigues of IV C welcomed and introduced the chief guest of the day Sr. Pearl Anne A.C., Principal of Apostolic Carmel School, Bandra, Mumbai. The students welcomed the gathering through an elegant classical dance. A dance drama depicting the power of women not only entertained all, but made them realize the great power women have for the well being of the family and society.

The significance of the day was given by the students, highlighting the contribution of four women of our region through a power point presentation. The women highlighted were Dr. Olinda Pereira, founder principal of Roshni Nilaya; Mrs. Corrine Rasquinha, founder of ‘White Doves’; Sr. Maria Jyothi A.C., founder principal of St. Agnes Special School and Prof Hilda Rayappan, founder of  Prajna Counselling Centre.

In her address, Sr. Pearl Anne appreciated the programme put up by the students and congratulated them. Taking the model of Mother Mary, the patroness of the school and Venerable Mother Veronica, the foundress of the Apostolic Carmel, she highlighted the qualities of women, beginning from each alphabet of the word ‘WOMAN’.

Anoushka proposed the vote of thanks; Saanvi and Gabrielle Veigas were the Masters of ceremony
