World Women’s Day celebrated at Coast Guard Dist Headquarters

World Women’s Day celebrated at Coast Guard Dist Headquarters with the theme ‘We want to construct a different world of work for women’

Mangaluru: Throughout history, the central role of women in society has ensured the stability, progress and long-term development of nations and over the years, women’s roles and responsibilities have constantly evolved. The contribution of women at Headquarters, Coast Guard District (Karnataka) was celebrated with a theme “We want to construct a different world of work for women”.

The event commenced with the planting of coconut sapling symbolic to Eco-feminism and Women Empowerment with the infested believe on nature being alive, and women are creative energies that sustain life on Earth and in our homes and communities.

DIG SS Dasila, TM, the Commander, Coast Guard Karnataka speaking on the occasion said that at for Women Empowerment, we need to inspire confidence in women to help them realize their inherent strength, resolve and power so that they are able to be their best selves un-apologetically, and we do this by ensuring they are on the front foot in any situation knowing that we are here to support them every step of the way.

Adding to the spirit of celebrations Dy Comdt Deepika Dhiman highlighted “new roles of women and implications for families and societies”. She added women have been playing vital roles in households since ages. Now women are also recognized for their value in the workplace and are engaged in wide range of activities of work in addition to their routine domestic work. Building a society where women can breathe freely without fear of oppression, exploitation, and discrimination is the need of the hour, to ensure a better future for the next generation.
