Wow! 2 Hours of Mesmerizing Dances by Six Sister Pairs from Six Dance Institutions at ‘Narthana Talodhari’ (Bharatanatyam Dances)

Mangaluru: ‘Bharathanjali’ was back with its next innovative event for the year. “Narthana Talodari”- an evening of duet performances by six sister pairs, which happened on at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Hall, former Town Hall from 5:30 pm, for nearly two hours. It was a unique mesmerizing evening of classical ‘Bharatanatyam Dances’ performed by twelve dancers, two each from Bharathanjali (R) Guru – Smt. Prathima Shridhara & Shri Shidhar Holla- Performance by Sisters Madhura Karanth and Manasa Karanth; Nrityaangan(R.) Guru – Smt. Radhika Shetty- Performance by: Sisters Drishya and Drishti; Shristi Nritya Kala Kuteera, Guru: Dr. Manjari Chandra- Performance by: Sisters Jethra and Hitha; Natyaradhana Kala Kendra(R ), Guru: Smt. Sumangala- Performance by: Sisters Chaitrashree and Satyanushri; Bharathanjali-Kinnigoli, Guru: Annapoorna Shetty-Performance by Sisters Karunya and Bhoomika; and Shourabha Kala Parishath (R) Guru: Dr. Shrividhya N Muralidhar-Performance by Smt.Yashaswini Nithesh and Prajna Mahabala.

It was a FIRST of its kind show to happen in Mangaluru, where the six pairs of dancers were essentially sisters who did put up a scintillating and mesmerizing show, which made the audience go “WOW”!.Ms Prathima Shridhar-the Director of and Managing Trustee of Bharathanjali who was behind this concept speaking to Team Mangalorean said, “The chemistry that exists between two sisters is un-matchable, even though various combinations have been tried out and successfully delivered in the past. This was the first time that these twelve sisters performed with each other. I am happy to note that all the performers were all excited and thrilled to take part in this unique concept of Bharatanatyam dance”.

Radhika Shetty, the dance guru of Nrityaangan said, “As soon as my students heard of this unique concept organized by Bharatanjali they were all excited, and I too was excited, so we immediately signed up for the event. And we are happy that we did, since my students Drishya and Drishti, both sisters were overwhelmed that they received loud applaud from the audience for their performances”.

The programme was inaugurated by MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik along with Er Rajendra Kalbhavi, Bharatanatyam Teacher Ullal Mohan Kumar among many others. “Bharatanatyam is an art form that shapes life beautifully, enhances one’s knowledge, concentration, and involves the invocation of divinity, said Captain Ganesh Karnik”. He spoke these lines as he inaugurated “Narthana Talodhari”, a programme that witnessed duet performances by sister pairs, which was organised by Bharathanjali, Kottara in association with Department of Kannada and Culture at Town Hall, Mangaluru. He also praised Bharathanjali for coming up with innovative concepts every single time.

The chief guest, Er Rajendra Kalbhavi who is the director of the construction department at NITK Suratkal said that art forms like Bharathanatyam was the reason for the survival of the age-old tradition of Guru-Shishya Parampara. Kalashree Chandrashekhar Navada said that those that learnt this art form will never take the wrong path and added that the learners will learn how to lead the life in society. They will excel in studies as well and become great citizens of the society.

Natyacharya Ullal Mohan Kumar lit the lamp. Musician Vidwan M. Narayan conveyed good wishes. Bharathanjali’s director Shridhara Holla welcomed the gathering. Guru Vidushi Prathima Shridhar proposed the vote of thanks. Smt. Madhuri Shriram compered the programme.
