Yaduveer Wadiyar Takes part in Akki Muhurtha at Adamar Math

Udupi: Adamar Math Swamiji, who is all set to ascend the Paryaya Peetha for the third time next year, performed the ‘Akki Muhurtha’ at the Math premises amidst spiritual and religious rituals along with the presence of Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar who is the twenty-seventh head or “custodian” of the erstwhile ruling family of the Kingdom of Mysuru on January 30.

The ceremony is the second in line of the four rituals that are performed by the Swamiji before ascending the Paryaya throne. ‘Bale Muhurtha,’ ‘Akki Muhurtha,’ ‘Kattige Muhurtha’ and ‘Bhattha Muhurtha’ are the four rituals.

The Adamar Swamiji ascends the Paryaya throne on January 18, 2020. Prayers were offered to the ‘Akki Mudi’ that was kept in the golden chariot marking the ceremony of ‘Akki Muhurtha.’

The Muhurtha signifies the accumulation of the rice and other cereals for the two years of the Paryaya of the Math. Although the prayer is offered to rice, it is symbolic in the ritual.

The Muhurtha would ensure the collection of all the cereals and initiates the symbolic gesture of collecting the donations for the expenses of feeding the devotees during the two-year Paryaya.

Rituals were performed to the ‘Akki Mudi’ that was kept in the golden chariot marking the ceremony of ‘Akki Muhurtha’. ‘Mahamangalastike’ ‘Dhanyalaxmi Puja,’ ‘Navagraha Puja’ was performed on the occasion.

Swamijis of the ‘Ashta Math’ were offered a ritualistic ceremonial welcome at Sri Adamar Math. Swamijis later performed ‘Malika Mangalarathi’ to Sri Vishwapriya Swamiji and Esha Priya Swamiji on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion Yaduveer said, “Today I have participated in the Akki Mahurtha programme following the invitation from the Admaar Math. Our family has a special bond with Adamar Math. In 1964 my father-in-law inaugurated the guest house. In 2017 Admar Swamiji asked me to inaugurate the renovated guest house. Today again the Swamiji invited me to attend the Akki Mahurtha. The Royal family has a close relationship with the Admaar Math and the same will continue in the future too,” he added.

Yaduveer further said, “Today the Sri Krishna Math Swamijis also welcomed us wholeheartedly and gave their blessings. I will continue to visit the Temple more often in the future”.
