Young and Energetic IAS Officer Akshy Sridhar-the New Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Meets Officials on His First Day in Office, on Thursday, 27 August 2020 at 11 am

Mangaluru: Ending the impasse over the appointment of a new Commissioner of Mangaluru city Corporation (MCC) following the transfer of incumbent senior IAS officer Ajith Kumar Hegde three weeks ago, the Karnataka government had appointed of 2017 -batch IAS officer, Akshy Sridhar as the new Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation. The commissioner’s post at MCC was vacant since the transfer of Ajith Kumar Hegde, but in the meantime, Dinesh Kumar was Commissioner In-Charge for a few days. The appointment of Akshy was in line with his earlier posting as Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Food Processing Industries for four months from July – October 2019.

Besides, Akshy, a public administration enthusiast, according to his profile bio, has also served as assistant commissioner of Bidar sub-division. Akshy holds a graduate degree in electrical engineering from the College of Engineering, Guindy in Chennai is a marathon runner and has also worked with a public sector bank.

Team Mangalorean was the First to have close encounters with the New MCC Commissioner, Young and energetic Akshy Sridhar, this morning, Thursday 27 August 2020, after he assumed his office, where he said, ” As civil servant working in the domain of public administration, I graduated as an electrical engineer before taking a leap into the Government Sector out of sheer passion. I tried my hands in a Public Sector Bank but soon enough, I realised my heart did not lie there and I continued my preparation to crack the Civil Services exam. I am a marathon runner who likes to read books on different genres. I have interned as a sports writer while at college and I also like to engage in debates and public speaking. Prior to assuming the Commissioner’s post on Mangaluru City Corporation today, I was working as Assistant Commissioner/Sub Divisional Magistrate, Bidar, where my primary work was in revenue and public administration”.

“Since today is my First day after assuming the prestigious post of Commissioner of ‘Smart City’ Mangaluru, for the few days I want to go around and learn more about the City. My first priority will be to expedite the Smart City development projects at the earliest. And also work closely with the engineers and other officials of MCC and Mangaluru Smart City Ltd, and make sure the projects are carried on systematically. I will be looking forward to the support from citizens of Mangaluru in carrying out my duties smoothly and efficiently” added Commissioner Akshy Sridhar.

Commissioner Akshy Sridhar was received at the Mangaluru International Airport by Dinesh Kumar (who was in-charge MCC Commissioner), Dr Manjayya Shetty (MCC Health Officer) and other officials from MCC, after his arrival from Bengaluru this morning. From the Airport, Akshy Sridhar went to meet Deputy Commissioner of DK Dr Rajendra K N, after which he proceeded to his chamber in the MCC building.
