Franklin Monteiro Arrested while attempting to Protest against Tipu Jayanti
Mangaluru: The police on duty at the Zilla Panchayat arrested a man while attempting to protest against the celebration of Tipu Jayanti here on November 10.
The district administration organized the Tipu Jayanti celebrations at the Zilla Panchayat on November 10 in spite of strong opposition from many organizations.
For the smooth conduct of the Tipu Jayanti celebrations, strict instructions have given to the police to take action against those who violate the law. To maintain the law and order situation during the celebrations more than 1200 police personnel were deployed in the city.
On November 10, the founder of Rashtriya Kristha Vedike and leader of BJP Minority Morcha Franklin Monteiro was arrested when he protested and tried to enter the Zilla Panchayat premises where the Tipu Jayanti celebrations were being held.
