Bhatkal: The state CID police team led by DySP Purushottam, which held investigations in Puttur, Mani and Mangaluru earlier this week, visited Devimane in Kitre panchayat limits late evening on Friday.
The team has been probing into charges of sexual assault against Shri Raghaveshwara Bharati of Hosanagara Math levelled by Premalata, a former vocalist who had taken part in his Ramakatha discourses at various centres including Devimane.
The discourse programme at Devimane had been held under the aegis of Durgaparameshwari temple. The CID team inspected the room where the Swamiji had camped. Premalata has reportedly accused the Swamiji of sexual abuse there as well.
The DySP questioned Premalata and her husband in the room for long hours. Thereafter, the members of the temple committee were also questioned.
Committee president Shivananda Hebbar said that the team sought information on the dates and duration of the Swamiji’s stay, the timing of Ramakatha, Premalata’s visit and participation and the like.
Before coming to Devimane, the CID team had visited Puttur and Mangaluru. Apparently they arrived by road. The next itinerary is not known.
