Mangaluru: Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Law College and Centre for Post Graduate Studies and Research in Law, a premier institution in legal education in Coastal Karnataka and managed by Sri Dharmasthala Educational Society Ujire, Dakshina Kannada has been conducting trend setting and unique moot court competitions for the past eight years with “Dominus Litis’12”, an ‘All in all National level Moot Court’ competition Victoria Luris’ 14 being their last successful event.
To continue with this trend, SDM is again this year organizing “Victoria Luris’15”, a 4-day National Level Law Fest comprising of 11 events from the 12th to 15th March 2015. Participation has been limited to Twenty. The events comprise of : Trial Advocacy; Appellate Advocacy; Client Counselling; Bail Petition; Negotiation; Youth Parliament; Celebrity Advocate; Law Quiz; Legal Drafting; Law Essay; and Legal Crossword. Every event will be awarded exciting cash prizes.Overall Winners : Rs 15,000/-; Overall Runners up: Rs 10,000
The drive today was for awareness regarding Victoria Luris 2015 to be held from march 12-15, it was flagged off by Raghavendra Rao Advocate/Notary Govt of India as well as Principal SDM Law College Dr P D Sebastian. The drive consisted of 20 cars and 8 bikes. The drive started from SDM law college and passed through major junctions as well as colleges around the city and culminated at SDM college campus.
There will be 18 colleges coming from all over the country including national law schools who will battle it out in arguments and negotiations to win the Overall title.
The event will be judged by lawyers from around the city, who will test the skill of the young advocates. The event will see great personalities come to judge as well as present awards for the winners, including Hon’ble High Court Judges.
The National Level Fest will be inaugurated on 12th March at 2 pm by Smt Uma M.G Hon’ble District and Sessions Judge Mangaluru, Guest of Honour Hon’ble Principal Judge Shri. Bailur Shankara Rama, Family Court, Mangaluru, Chief Guest of the Function Sri S.P.Chengappa the President ,Mangalore Bar Association, and Presided over by Dr. H Vinod Bhat Pro Vice Chancellor, Manipal University
The Valedictory of Victoria Iuris 2015 will be on 15th March at 2pm and the address will be delivered by Hon’ble Mr. Justice N. Kumar, Judge High Court of Karnataka and Hon’ble Mr. Justice S. Abdul Nazeer Judge High Court of Karnataka, and Hon’ble Mr. Justice Venugopala Gowda Judge High Court of Karnataka, Guest of Honour being Sri P.P.Hegde the Chairman, Karnataka State Bar Council, Chief Guest Prof. Arala Rajendra Shetty, Member of SDME Society®. During Valedictory Prof. N.G.Kadamba, the founder Principal of the College will be felicitated along with other distinguished alumni of the college.
