Santiago (Chile), June 19 (IANS) The disciplinary tribunal of South American football’s governing body, Conmebol, has provisionally suspended striker Neymar for one game after his behaviour in the aftermath of Brazil’s 0-1 defeat to Colombia.

The tribunal will meet later on Friday to decide the final punishment.

The Brazil captain picked up a yellow card during the first half on Wednesday, his second of the group stages after a booking against Peru, which carries an automatic one-match ban that ruled him out of their match against Venezuela on Sunday.

But the striker was then shown a straight red card following the final whistle after he appeared to drive the ball at midfielder Pablo Armero, before directing a head-butt at defender Jeison Murillo.

Neymar could now be set to miss even more of the tournament, should the tribunal opt to increase his suspension after reviewing his actions during their meeting on Friday.

The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has 24 hours to submit a defence, at which point a final decision will be made.
