Moodbidri: Planting and nurturing trees is a virtuous deed. If you rear trees as of your child, annuity you receive is priceless, said Nadoja award winner Saalumarada Thimmakka.
She was addressing a gathering of students after inaugurating ‘Srusti Nature Club’, organized by Alva’s Institute of Engineering and Technology, on Wednesday, September 7 at the AIET Seminar Hall, Mijar.
Trees are the best things we can leave behind as we move on in our lives. Elders should encourage students to take up the cause of saving the environment, she noted. She added and said, children need to be taught not just to plant trees, but also nurture them. What nature provides with is not for humans alone, it belongs to every living organism.

She sang few folk songs to explain how nature provided for all its creatures without discrimination. Later she was felicitated for her yeoman service to the society by planting trees and conserving the environment.
