Seven Injured in Bee Attack at Balkuru

Kundapur: After an attack by honeybees on school children, in yet another incident seven people were injured when a swarm of honey bees attacked them at Balkuru near Basruru Kundapur on Thursday, December 1.

The injured are identified as Mahendra Balkuru (26), Balkuru Grama Panchayat workers Laxmi (45), Poornima (22), and nearby residents Laxmi (47), Sharada (46), Jayalaxmi (42) and Prabhakar Billava (48).

According to sources, Mahendra was on his way to Balkuru grama Panchayat to pay the water bill, when a honeycomb in a fallen tree on the road side was apparently disturbed by a bird. The bees attacked Mahendra, Mahendra immediately jumped into a nearby water tank to avoid the attack from the bees. Later the bees entered inside the Gram Panchayat and attacked Panchayat workers Laxmi, Library assistant Poornima, and nearby residents Laxmi, Jayalaxmi, Sharada and Prabhakar Billava.

Immediately all the Seven were rushed to a Private Hospital in Kundapur. Prabhakar Billava has been treated as out-patient and discharged from the hospital. The remaining six are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
