Two Arrested in Safwan Attempt to Murder Case

Mangaluru: The CCB police arrested two youth in connection with an attempt to murder case at Surathkal here, on July 9.

The arrested have been identified as Nithin Shetty (23) and Gaurav (24).

On April 26, Safwan Hasan from Kallapu Patna, was on his way home on his two-wheeler. Four youth followed him on two bikes and attacked him with machetes. Safwan was injured severely and was rushed to a private hospital.

In this connection, a case was registered in the Ullal police station under Sections 326, 307 and 34 of IPC.

The Ullal police had already nabbed four people in this case. Two others had been absconding after the crime. After receiving reliable information, the CCB police arrested Nitin and Gaurav from Surathkal.

Nitin Shetty has also been involved in Urwa Nanda Kumar’s murder and a case is registered against him in the Urwa police station. The other accused, Gaurav, had previously been involved in the Prashanth murder case in Valencia. Both Nitin and Gaurav have also been involved in a dacoity case near Mahaveer College in Moodbidri in the month of April.

The CCB police have handed over Nitin and Gaurav to the Ullal Police for further investigation. CCB Inspector Valentine D’Souza, PSI Shyam Sundar and team have carried out the operation.
