Udupi: A senior retired police officer from Mangaluru died in a road mishap at Brahmavar here on June 1.
The deceased has been identified as B J Bhandary (62), retired DySP from Nagori, Mangaluru.
According to police, on June 1, Bhandary came from Mangaluru to attend a relative’s wedding in Udupi. At around 2 PM, when he was crossing the road, near Mahesh Hospital, a Maruti Suzuki Wagon R which was heading towards Kundapur from Udupi, hit Bhandary.
Bhandary was critically injured and rushed to Manipal Hospital but he succumbed to injuries in the evening.
A case has been registered in the Brahmavar police station.
