1st COVID-19 Death in DK, Doctor of Navadurga Clinic Booked for Negligence

Mangaluru: The Health officer of Bantwal Taluk filed a complaint on April 20, against Dr. Sadashiv Shenoy of Navadurga Clinic for negligence in treating the woman, who died of COVID-19 at the Wenlock Hospital on April 19.

According to the police, on April 20, officials of the health department visited the house of the deceased woman who had died of COVID-19 at the Wenlock Hospital on April 19. They met the son and the husband of the deceased and collected all the necessary information. During the meeting, it was learnt that the woman was suffering from pneumonia and was taken to the doctor for treatment.

On April 15, the woman was suffering from fever and was taken to the Navadurga Clinic. She was treated by Dr Sadashiv Shenoy at his clinic. After treating her for four days, the fever had not subsided but the doctor still did not advise the family members to take her to the hospital. The doctor also failed to inform the Health department of her symptoms and condition.

When the COVID-19 is declared as Pandemic in the country, the doctor’s negligence proved fatal for the patient. The doctor was also negligent in preventing the spread of COVID-19. In this regard, the officials of the health department have filed a complaint in the Bantwal Town police station.

Based on the complaint a case has been registered against the doctor in Bantwal Town Police station under section 269 and 270 IPC.
