Arushi S H D’Silva wins runner up in State Under-9 Girls

Mangaluru: Derik’s Chess School prodigy Arushi S H D’Silva has won the runner-up place in the Under-9 Girls category in the Karnataka State Schools Chess Championship held at Bangalore on 6th January 2019 organised by Innovator Chess Academy under the auspices of UKCA (United Karnataka Chess Association).

Arushi D’Silva scored 5 points in 6 rounds and was tied along with Shanjula Senthil and Shriyana Mallya for the top honour. Although Arushi had won with Shanjula due to tie break points she had to be content with the runner-up.

Arushi is studying in 3rd standard in Carmel School, Mangalore and is the daughter of Anand F M D’Silva and Rita D’Souza of Derebail, Mangalore.

Derik’s Chess School talents Rima Rao (Indrali Eng Med Hr Pry School) and Lakshith B Salian (Ideal EMS) also delivered impressive performance bagging 4th and 5th position in Under 7 Girls and Under 15 Boys category respectively.
