B C Road Protest Planned on June 24 Postponed – Hindu Hitaraskhana Samiti

Mangaluru: “To maintain the law and order situation and to respect the law of the country the Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti has postponed the protest planned to be held at B C Road on June 24”, said the member of the Hindu Hitarakshan Samiti Harish Punja in a press meet held at Hotel Janatha Delux, Pathumudi here on June 23.

Addressing the mediapersons Harish Punja said, “In Dakshina Kannada district there have been continuous atrocities on Hindus. From the past 2 to 3 months, Hindu youth have been assaulted in Kanyana and other Taluks. Condemning the assault on the Hindu Community, the Hindu Hitarakshana Samiti had organised a protest on June 24 at B C Road. Because of some untoward incidents in the district, the district administration has imposed Section 144 in various taluks.”

Harish Punja further said, “To respect the law and to co-operate with the district administration we have postponed the protest. Once section 144 will be revoked we will announce the date for the protest in B C Road. The IGP, SP and the Police Commissioner have discussed with us the present situation and have requested us to postpone the protest.”

When asked about holding a harmony meet instead of protest, Punja said, “It is the responsibility of the District Minister In-charge and the government. Since there are continuous atrocities on the Hindu society and the district minister in-charge has failed in his duties we are forced to hold the protest”.

Member of Hindu Hitaraskhana Samiti Raviraj was also present.
