Munich, May 22 (IANS) German football club Bayern Munich formally announced their China tour this summer which will see them play three friendly games against Valencia CF, Inter Milan and Guangzhou Evergrande in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, respectively.
As another major step of their internationalisation, Bayern Munich will visit China from July 16 to 24. On July 18 they will face six times Spanish champions Valencia CF in the Bird’s Nest in Beijing. On July 21, head coach Pep Guardiola’s team will take on the 18-time Italian champions Inter Milan in Shanghai, reports Xinhua.
At its final stop in Guangzhou on July 23, Bayern will play against FC Guangzhou Evergrande, who have won the Chinese title for the last four years in a row and who were the Asian Champions League winners in 2013.
“The Audi Summer Tour in China is another further step in our international orientation where the clear focus is on the United States and China. Bayern Munich has nearly 90 million followers in China, who will have the opportunity to see one of the best teams in the world right up close during the tour,” said Joerg Wacker, executive board member of Internationalisation and Strategy of Bayern Munich.
Bayern’s last China tour was in 2012 with two friendly games.
