Belthangady Rauf is innocent, Media should Clarify Before publishing Sensitive News – U T Khader

Mangaluru: “Some of the media published that a person from Belthangady who had made a satellite call to Pakistan was arrested by the police. But in reality, no one was arrested. Abdul Rauf who is here with us was targetted and accused of making the satellite call. He does not even know about the satellite phone, he is a poor man and is even unable to complete the construction work of his house. He had come to me thrice asking for financial help to complete the work of his house. He has been unnecessarily targetted by the media without any proof. The media should clarify such sensitive issues before publishing”, said the former minister U T Khader in a press meet held at the Circuit House here on August 20.

Addressing the mediapersons U T Khader said, “Safety of the country is very much important. If any stranger comes to our area or if we see any suspicious person we should first inform the police. Even while renting our house or flats, we should have relevant information and also keep the police station informed. From the past 3 days, there are rumours that NIA is in the district to investigate the Belthangady satellite phone call to Pakistan case. NIA is an important agency, the Police commissioner, SP or DC should have prior information when such agencies are in our district for investigations. Some TV channels have telecasted saying that sources had revealed to them about NIA being in DK to investigate the case. They should reveal the source to us since the SP or the Beltangady Police Inspector are not aware of NIA investigating this case in DK. Such unfounded news will create panic among the people. Media should be careful while publishing any sensitive news.”

Abdul Rauf speaking to the mediapersons said, “When I was 5-year-old I lost my father. After I completed my 7th standard my mother admitted me to the Al Madina Orphanage, Manjanady to continue my studies. I am now serving at the Al Madina Mosque as assistant priest. Two months ago my wife had delivered and she is now staying with her parents. My house is locked as I am serving in the mosque. I am struggling to complete the construction work of my house. I don’t have any idea about satellite phones. After my name appeared in the media, people started to call me. This is mental torture for me. I have submitted a Memorandum to the SP to investigate this case and give me justice.”

U T Khader further said, “I am very happy that CM Yeddyurappa is forming the cabinet today. I congratulate all the ministers and request to continue all the schemes our government had implemented such a the Annabhagya, single window system, sand policy etc. Let the new government provide people-friendly governance. “
