Bengaluru: It has been widely reported in the media that D K Ravi, the IAS officer who was found hanging in his apartment in suspicious circumstances on Mar 16, had made 44 calls to a female IAS batch-mate in a matter of an hour before his death.

When the CID report was yet to be out, reports about various angles went flying around, claiming ‘informed’ sources.

The husband of the said IAS officer, an IT professional-turned-realtor, filed a petition praying for a stay on the placing of the CID report by the government on the floor of the house. The court had granted an interim bar, pending hearing the case in full.

During the hearing, the husband has asserted that it was just four times that Ravi had called his wife (IAS officer) and not 44 times as claimed in the media reports.

His advocate Sajjan Poovaiah stated in the court the CID officials might have given the wrong information and the same was repeated in the media.

Poovaiah also submitted that during all the four calls, the husband was with the wife when she received them. The court asked the petitioner to file a counter-objection and adjourned the case.

It may be recalled here that JD(S) leader and former CM H D Kumaraswamy had offered to quit politics if it was proved that Ravi had indeed made 44 calls before dying.

However, the reference to 44 calls was only in the media and had not come from officials sources.
