Mangaluru: Construction of Yatri Nivas at Infant Jesus Shrine Assured

Mangaluru: State tourism minister R V Deshpande has said in the state legislative council that steps would be taken to have a ‘yatri nivas’ for pilgrims’ stay constructed at the Infant Jesus shrine in Bikarnakatte in the city.

He was responding to a question from MLC Ivan D’Souza, who had requested that pilgrims from far and near visited the shrine all through the year. Hence providing them with accommodation would be a great help.

Deshpande also said that Rs 2 crore had been granted for a yatri nivas near the Jain basadi in Venur. Work on a yatri nivas each near Shri Durgaparameshwari temple in Kateel and Jain math in Moodbidri was in progress.

Steps have been taken to provide Shri Manjunatheshwara temple in Kadri in the city with tourist information centre, washrooms and vehicle parking. Work on road construction, seating, drinking water and washroom facilities at Padumale hill of Koti-Chennaya fame in Puttur taluk has been granted Rs 25 lakh funding.
