Body of Missing Vivek Shettigar from Konaje Discovered in Someshwar Lake

Mangaluru: The body of Vivek Shettigar (32), a resident of Muchilakodi House in Konaje village who was reported missing on March 9, was recovered from Someshwar Lake on Wednesday morning, according to local authorities. Shettigar, son of Dinesh Shettigar, had been the subject of a missing person investigation initiated by the Konaje Police Station.

Shettigar’s disappearance prompted concern after he failed to return home on the evening of March 9. According to reports, he had departed for work at Veda Motors, a company located near Kadri in Mangaluru, at approximately 11:00 a.m. that day, which was his normal routine. Later that evening, at approximately 9:30 p.m., Shettigar contacted his mother, informing her that he would be visiting a temple and might arrive home late, requesting that the family not await his return.

When Shettigar did not return by midnight, his family attempted to contact him via his mobile phone. These efforts proved unsuccessful. The following day, March 10, repeated attempts to reach him also failed, as his phone remained unreachable. Upon contacting Veda Motors, his family was informed that the company was closed.

Unable to ascertain his whereabouts from relatives or acquaintances, Shettigar’s family filed a formal missing person complaint with the Konaje Police Station. The case was registered under Crime No. 21/2026, and an investigation was initiated.

Prior to the discovery of his body, Shettigar’s scooter was found parked near Someshwar temple. His mobile phone and slippers were also located at the same site, leading investigators to believe he had gone missing from that location. Sources familiar with the matter have indicated that Shettigar had divorced his wife approximately eight months prior to his disappearance.

The Konaje Police Station is currently conducting further investigations into the circumstances surrounding Shettigar’s death. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death.
