Carmelite Nun Sr Marie Celine of the Holy Face Passes Away at 90
Mangaluru: Sr. Marie Celine of the Holy Face (Cynthia Pinto), a member of the Cloistered Carmel Monastery in Kankanady, passed away on Friday, July 3, at the age of 90.
Born on January 12, 1936, Sr Marie Celine embraced the Carmelite vocation and made her First Profession on November 21, 1961. She dedicated several decades of her life to contemplative prayer and religious service.
Over the years, she served as Prioress and Novice Mistress, making significant contributions to the formation of young sisters and the spiritual life of the Carmelite community.
Her mortal remains will be kept in the monastery chapel for public homage from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, ahead of the funeral rites later that day.
The funeral Mass will follow at 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 4, at the Cloistered Carmel Monastery, Kankanady, immediately after the period of public homage, and will be followed by the final rites.
Sr Marie Celine is remembered for her deep spirituality, humble service, and unwavering commitment to the Carmelite way of life. Her passing has been mourned by the Carmelite community, clergy, religious, and the faithful.
