Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh holds Annual Meeting
Udupi: Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh is doing great work which is vital in the present world. Through its service, today the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh has become a role model nationwide. We should be the channel of service, and we receive blessings when we show humanity towards others, said Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo Bishop of Udupi Diocese.
Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo was speaking after inaugurating the Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Annual General Body meeting at the Don Bosco Hall, Udupi on Sunday, October 26.
Laity organisations like the Catholic Sabha are strong pillars of the Catholic church. In the Udupi Diocese, the Catholic Sabha has taken a prominent role as a laity organisation from the past eight years. During the lockdown, the catholic Sabha has shown humanity by helping the poor people. The organisation has reached out to the poor in every possible way in their needs. Having a broad mind and being involved in the development of the society with a compassionate heart is the need of the hour, said the Bishop.
Santhosh D’Silva, president of Karnataka Cashew Manufacturers Association who was the chief guest of the function, said, “The Catholic Sabha has organised a good number programmes for the past eight years. This organisation has been organising many social and awareness camps on the benefits available to minorities from the government.
Francis Danti Memorial Literary Honour and Late Henry D’Silva memorial essay competition awards were conferred on the occasion. The Catholic Sabha’s new telephone directory was also unveiled.
The Varados, units and individuals for selling the maximum number of donation coupons, best active Varado and unit, and those who had actively worked for the promotion of “Amcho Sandesh”, the monthly magazine of Catholic Sabha were felicitated.
Joint Secretary Gregory P K D’Souza presented last year’s General Body report while secretary Santhosh Cornelio presented the annual report. Treasurer Gerald Rodrigues presented the Annual income and expenditure report. Henry Menezes readout the Manasa report while Alice Rodrigues presented the Sashakth Samuday Trust Report.
Catholic Sabha Udupi Pradesh Spiritual Director Fr Ferdinand Gonsalves, outgoing president Alwyn Quadros, Mary D’Souza, president-designate, Walter Cyril Pinto Convener Sashakth Samuday Seva Trust, Denary Presidents Mabel D’Souza Kundapur, Rosy Baretto Kallianpur, Soloman Alvares Karkal, Ida Cornelio Shirva and Ronald Almeida Udupi were present.
Robert Menezes welcomed the gathering, Santhosh Cornelio delivered a vote of thanks, and Edward Larson D’Souza compered the programme.
