Cattle Trader Found Dead in Coffee Plant at Perdoor, Family Alleges Murder

Udupi: A 65-year old cattle trader was found dead in a suspicious manner at a coffee plant in Perdoor here, on May 30.

The deceased has been identified as Hassanabba (65), a resident of Jokatte, Mangaluru. Hussain was involved in cattle trade for the last 35 years in Mangaluru.

According to the police, on May 30, the PSI received a call about cattle trafficking at Perdoor. The PSI along with other three police constables reached the spot and found an abandoned vehicle loaded with cattle. In this connection, a cow trafficking case was registered.

Later at around 11:00 am, the police received another call informing of a body being found in a coffee plant. In this connection, a complaint was filed by a person from Mangaluru. According to the relatives of the deceased, when three persons were travelling by a Scorpio, a group waylaid their vehicle. At that time two of the occupants in the Scorpio fled, Hassanabba while trying to flee from the spot collapsed and died.

There were 12 cattle on the spot, two of which had already died. Relatives of Hasanabba suspect Bajrang Dal activist Surya and his group involved in the murder of Hasanabba. They have filed a complaint against Surya and others.

Speaking to the media persons, the police superintendent Lakshman Nimbargi told that the police had received a call at 4.15 am over the illegal cattle trafficking. The PSI rushes to the spot along with the police. on seeing police, the vehicle rushes reverse side. the vehicle gets struck. There were 12 middle aged cattle and calves. Two have died.

At around 11 am another call received tells us about the dead body. A case is registered alleging murder by the family members. The Scorpio vehicle was chased by a group of people and youths ran away. The deceased was manhandled. He could not run away and collapsed and dies. Both the cases are investigated. He added before police arrived the accused with cattle had escaped. The SP said there are possibilities of both the cases linked to each other. As per the initial compliant, Hasanabba was one of the accused. He could not run. He added that the cases would be looked into it. The post mortem report would elaborate more. The surgeons are asked to give the report at the earliest. The occupation of the deceased would be known only after the investigation. The deceased family has alleged against the Surya and other members in the case.

A case has been registered in the Hiriyadka police station. The body has been sent for post-mortem.
