Mangaluru: As Ernest Hemingway aptly said, “Wine is one of the most civilized things in the world and one of the most natural things of the world that has been brought to the greatest perfection, and it offers a greater range for enjoyment and appreciation than, possibly, any other purely sensory thing.” – and Mangaloreans will be treated to an exotic three-day festival named “Mangaluru International Wine Festival” going to happen from December 8-10 at Kadri park-Mangaluru. Apart from tasting some free samples of wines offered by the wine dealers, Bacchus lovers can swing to the peppy and eclectic music, and soaking in the treacherous sun at the charming lawns of Kadri Park – away from the hustle and bustle, and also the noise and dust of the city!

Addressing the media persons during a press meet held at Mangalore Press Club, Ravindra Shankar Mirje-Chairman of Karnataka Wine Board said, “Karnataka Wine Board and Department of Horticulture will host “Mangalure International Wine Festival -2017” from 8th to 10th December – 2017. – National and International wineries will participate. – Wine Education session cum sales to promote moderate wine consumption will also be featured. This is an opportunity for stake holders to foster Trade – Business. – Seminar on Cultivation of Grape and Wine. In continuation of the grand success of 3 previous, we will be hosting the forthcoming wine fest”

“This festival is getting excellent response. 10 to 12 wineries from Karnataka and Maharashtra state will participate by showcasing more than 150 brands in this event. Besides wineries, food courts to facilitate food pairing with the wine, music, entertainment, Cultural Programmes etc are added attractions. This festival will be creating awareness about wine grape cultivation, wine education.There will be sessions to train and encourage moderate wine consumption and as well offer wineries an opportunity to directly interact with consumers. These festivals are being organized for creating awareness about wine grape cultivation, providing Karnataka wineries exposure at National Level and Global Level.” added Mirje.

Mangalure International Wine Festival-2017” will be inaugurated on 8th December 2017 at 6.00 PM. by B. Ramanath Rai, Hon’ble Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment and District In charge minister, Dakshina Kannada. S.S. Mallikarjun, Hon’ble Minister for Horticulture and Agricultural Marketing will be inaugurating Wine Stalls and the programme will be presided over by J.R. Lobo. MLA . Entry fees for General Public – Rs. 20/- .10% Discount is offered on all Brands of Wine Sold at “Mangaluru International Wine Festival-2017”. Special Attraction of International Wine Festival: Blend of Music with Wine – On 8 th December Bharatanatyam dance by Bianca Sisters -Flute Music by International artists; 9th December-Dance performance by Ocean Kids, and Music by Band Zehen-Bengaluru; and music performance by Band by LAGORI which is performing in Mangaluru for the first time on 10-12-2017 at 7.00 pm. onwards.
