CID Police files Chargesheet in Bhaskar Shetty murder case
Udupi: Ninety- seven days after the murder of Hotelier Bhaskar Shetty, the CID Police have filed the chargesheet in the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate court here on November 2.
CID SP Martin and investigation officer DySP Chandrashekar filled around 800 pages of the charge sheet to the Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate.
Bhaskar Shetty, a businessman, went missing from his house here on July 28 and his mother Gulabi Shetty had lodged a missing person complaint at the Manipal police station on July 29. Rajeshwari and Navneet were arrested on charges of murdering Shetty and destroying the evidence on August 7.
Niranjan Bhat was arrested on August 8 for allegedly helping in disposing of Bhaskar Shetty’s body after burning it in a ‘Yagna kunda’ room in Nandalike village and disposing of the ashes in a rivulet in the Palli village. So far, the police have not recovered Shetty’s body. Srinivas Bhat and Raghavendra were arrested on August 10 on charges of destroying the evidence in the case.
The government handed over the case to the CID on August 16 amidst allegations that the local police had not handled the case properly.
