Con Man Cheats Traders with Fake Rs 500 Currency Notes
Udupi: Police report reveals that a middle-aged man travelling in a white car stopped by at the Sasthan Fish Market in Udupi, and purchased quite a few things from a shop, and also bought fish from five women fish sellers by giving them fake Rs 500 currency notes, on 6 October in the morning around 9 am or so.
His cheating came to limelight only when these traders and fish sellers gave these currency notes to their customers, they were notified that the Rs 500 bills were counterfeit. And the best part was that these fake notes were cut in a such a perfect way that they look real.
It is learnt that this conman was in the vicinity for nearly two hours cheating the women traders- it was found later that these currency notes were xerox copied. After complaints were filed, the police arrived and checked for footage on CCTV nearby, but since the clarity of the images was kind of blurry, it was hard for the police to identify the crook. Police have warned the traders to check any currency notes for authenticity, and not to fall prey for such con men.
