Criminal Case will be filed against Builders of Multi-storey Buildings without Sewage Treatment Plant

Mangaluru: “During the construction of multi-storey buildings it is mandatory to have Sewage Treatment Plants on the site, if not the MCC will file a criminal case against the builders. We will take all the measures to take action against those who do not have a Sewage Treatment Plant on their site during the construction”, said Mayor Kavitha Sanil to the reporters at the District Congress office here on May 7.

 

She further said, “This decision was made on May 6, during the meeting of Mayors of all the cities of the state in Bengaluru. All over the state, it is mandatory for industries, as well as multi-storey buildings to have Sewage Treatment Plants. In Bengaluru, notices have been served to 482 industries and criminal cases filed against 92 industries. Action has been taken against those industries for not having Sewage Treatment Plants. We will implement the same system within I the MCC limits”.

Kavitha also said, “In 2016, the state government had made it compulsory to have Sewage Treatment Plants for industries and multi-storey buildings. We need to strictly follow it within the Mangaluru city corporation limits. To avoid any problems in future we are taking this step”, said Kavitha.

Mayor Kavitha further said, “We have already banned plastic iIn the state. In the next 7 months, we will make Mangaluru a plastic free city”.

“The Thumbay vented dam has 4.9 meters of water. We are distributing water on daily basis. Due to rains, the water level in the dam has increased. Last year we had to dig and repair several borewells because of water scarcity. This year, so far we have not received any serious complaints from the public regarding water, the public has cooperated well in facing the water crisis”, Kavitha said.

“Once in a month we will have a phone in programme to understand the problems facing by the citizens and solve them accordingly”, said Kavitha.
