Crores of Rupees Misappropriated in Shiriyara Seva Cooperative Society: Manager Arrested

Udupi: Police have arrested one of the key accused in a multi-crore misappropriation case reported from the Kavadi branch of the Shiriyara Seva Cooperative Society, located in Sabarakatte.

The arrested accused has been identified as Suresh Bhat (38), a resident of Jaanuvaarakatte in Heggunje village. He was serving as the in-charge manager of the Kavadi branch. According to police sources, Suresh Bhat, along with junior clerk Harish Kulal, allegedly misappropriated ₹1.70 crore belonging to the society and subsequently went absconding. A case had been registered in this regard at the Kota Police Station.

Acting on credible information and under the guidance of Udupi DySP Prabhu D.T. and Brahmavar Circle Inspector Gopikrishna, a team comprising Kota Police Station Sub-Inspectors Praveen Kumar and Mantesh Jabhagoud, along with staff members Krishna Sheregaar, Sridhar, and Vijeyendra, apprehended the accused.

The second accused, Harish Kulal, remains absconding, and efforts are underway to trace him. Police investigations are in progress.
