Dakshina Kannada District Administration on High Alert Following Minister’s Instructions Amidst Heavy Rainfall
In response to the incessant heavy rainfall that has been battering the coastal region for the past two days, District In-charge Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao has issued stringent directives to the district administration, emphasizing the implementation of comprehensive precautionary measures to mitigate the potential loss of life and property damage.
Minister Rao contacted the Deputy Commissioner and Corporation Commissioner, instructing them to maintain a visible presence on the ground and proactively address any public inconvenience resulting from the adverse weather conditions. A primary focus has been placed on initiating and expediting clearing operations in areas afflicted by landslides, with a specific emphasis on restoring disrupted road connectivity through close collaboration with the National Highways Authority.
Families residing in low-lying areas susceptible to water inundation are to be promptly relocated to designated rehabilitation centers. Furthermore, Minister Rao has mandated that all Tahsildars and relevant officials remain actively engaged in their respective jurisdictions, ensuring the swift relocation of residents from structurally compromised dwellings to secure locations.
Rescue equipment is to be maintained in a state of readiness, and stringent precautions are to be observed to prevent any fatalities. The district control room is to operate continuously, providing immediate response to public grievances related to rain-induced damage. Minister Rao has issued a firm warning that any dereliction of duty in natural disaster management operations will be met with severe disciplinary action.
