This is a sweet snack that everyone will enjoy. Date Rolls can be served with fruit as a snack or on a dessert platter.
Flour (Plain maida) : 4 cups
Butter : 1 ? cup + 2 tblspoons butter (For mixing with dates)
Powdered sugar : ? cup
Eggs : 3 + 1 egg for glazing the rolls
Vanilla essence: 1 tablespoon
Baking powder : 2 teaspoons
Dates : 2-3 cups (chopped)
Cinnamon powder: 2 teaspoons (Freshly powdered)
Knead dates, cinnamon powder and 2 tblspoons of butter. Keep aside.
Sift flour & baking powder.
Cream butter, add powdered sugar and beat thoroughly. When done add eggs, vanilla essence and the sifted flour.
Make small balls, gently roll them, add date mixture in center and seal.
Brush beaten egg on the rolls and sprinkle with sesame seeds on top.
Bake in a moderate oven till golden.
