DC Priyanka Mary Francis flags off Plastic awareness Rally
Udupi: Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Priyanka Mary flagged off plastic awareness rally hoisted by Karnataka Pollution Control Board in association with Bharath Scouts and Guides, CMC Udupi here on May 25.
President of CMC Udupi Meenakshi Madhav Bannaje distributed cloth bags to those who were present and gave a call to refrain from using plastic to keep the environment clean.
Deputy Commissioner addressing the gathering said that the government has banned plastic bags along with flexes. Students of the Bharath Scouts and Guides will be distributing cloth and paper bags to the people and vendors. The district administration aims at making Udupi district as a plastic free district, she added.
CMC Environmental Engineer Raghavendra, Conveners of Bharath Scouts and Guides and others were present.
Students will be meeting vendors and the public and spread awareness on the usage of cloth and paper bags instead of the plastic bags.
