District Women’s Congress stages protest against Modi Govt

Mangaluru: The District Women’s Congress staged a protest against the hike in price for cooking gas by the Union government, in front of the DC office here on March 17.

The members of the District women’s Congress shouted slogans against the Union government led by Narendra Modi. They also used the firewood to prepare tea and presented a skit on the hike in cooking gas.

The protest was inaugurated by the district congress president in-charge Ibrahim Kodijal. Addressing the protesters Ibrahim Kodijal said, “Before the elections, the BJP had promised to provide all essential commodities at an affordable price but now the BJP government led by Prime minister Narendra Modi has hiked the price of all the essential commodities. The hike in the price of cooking gas has brought tears to the eyes of all women, the present price for cooking gas is not affordable to many people. The district congress condemns the hike in the price of cooking gas”.

The President of the District women’s Congress Shalet also spoke on the occasion. Former Mayors Hilda Alva and others were also present.
