DK Reports 1st COVID-19 Death of 50-year-old Woman

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada reported its first COVID-19 death on April 19 after a 50-year-old woman died at the COVID hospital.

On April 18, a woman from Bantwal was admitted to the hospital with symptoms of pneumonia. Her throat SWAB was collected and sent for a test. On April 19, her condition deteriorated and the woman succumbed to the disease.

The report was expected by noon, but at 9:15 am the woman breathed her last. The report confirming positive for COVID-19 was received in the afternoon.

The final rites of the woman will be held according to the Medical protocol by the Health Department.

The woman did not have any travel history. This is the first COVID-19 death case in the history of Dakshina Kannada. The district administration is requesting people to maintain social distance and strictly follow the government guidelines.
