Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Seminar 2026 Held at Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College

Mangaluru: The Department of Practice of Medicine, Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College and Hospital, Deralakatte, organised the Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Seminar 2026 on July 14 at the Father Muller Auditorium. The seminar honoured the visionary homoeopath Dr. M. L. Dhawale and celebrated his enduring contributions to homoeopathic education, research, and clinical practice.

The scientific sessions were conducted by Dr. Saptarshi Banerjea, B.H.M.S., M.D. (Hom.), Deputy Director of Bengal Allen Medical Institute, Kolkata, an internationally renowned homoeopathic physician, teacher, author, and researcher.

The programme commenced with a prayer song, followed by escorting the dignitaries to the dais. Welcoming the gathering, Dr. E. S. J. Prabhukiran, Principal, reflected on the institution’s journey into its 42nd year. He recalled that Father Muller Homoeopathic Medical College was inaugurated on Dr. M. L. Dhawale’s birthday, making the annual memorial seminar a fitting occasion to commemorate his invaluable contributions to homoeopathy. He also highlighted Dr. Dhawale’s pioneering teaching methods and said the seminar was organised to inspire students and practitioners through his enduring legacy.

The dignitaries inaugurated the programme by lighting the ceremonial lamp, followed by garlanding the portraits of Rev. Fr. Augustus Muller and Dr. M. L. Dhawale, paying tribute to two visionaries whose contributions continue to inspire the institution and the homoeopathic fraternity.

The event also featured the felicitation of faculty members and students who completed research projects during the previous year. A total of nine faculty research projects and 14 student research projects, undertaken under initiatives such as the Faculty Research Projects, Short-Term Studentship in Homoeopathy (STSH), and the Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Student Research Project, were recognised. Investigators, student researchers, and their respective guides received certificates in appreciation of their contributions to scientific research and the advancement of homoeopathy.

Delivering the inaugural address, Dr. Ramesh Bhat encouraged participants to embrace lifelong learning. He emphasised that while medicine continues to evolve with advances in knowledge and technology, the values of wisdom, compassion, commitment, and empathy remain indispensable in patient care. He urged students and faculty members to actively engage in research through the Father Muller Research Centre.

In his Administrator’s Message, Rev. Fr. Donald Nilesh Crasta reflected on the significance of the memorial seminar through the perspectives of the past, present, and future. He said the past reminds us of the institution’s beginnings and Dr. M. L. Dhawale’s immense contribution; the present carries the responsibility of preserving and enriching this legacy, and the future presents opportunities to strengthen homoeopathy and serve society more effectively. He also congratulated the research scholars honoured during the programme.

Delivering the Presidential Address, Rev. Fr. Faustine Lucas Lobo, Director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions, recalled the institution’s 146-year legacy, which began under a banyan tree and has grown into a renowned educational and healthcare network. Appreciating the timeless relevance of the Law of Similars, he highlighted the importance of research in strengthening the scientific foundation and wider acceptance of homoeopathy. He encouraged participants to learn from the distinguished resource person and pursue meaningful research for the advancement of the profession.

Following the presentation of mementoes to the Chief Guest and Resource Person, Dr. G. Rajachandra, Convener, proposed the vote of thanks, expressing gratitude to the dignitaries, resource person, organisers, faculty members, students, and all who contributed to the programme’s success. The inaugural ceremony concluded with the Institution Anthem.

The seminar featured three interactive and clinically oriented scientific sessions conducted by Dr. Saptarshi Banerjea. The first session, “Cured Cases: Discussion with Comparative Materia Medica,” presented successfully treated clinical cases with a detailed analysis of remedy selection and comparative materia medica. The second session, “Dermatology: Look and Diagnose Through Pictures,” focused on identifying dermatological conditions using clinical photographs and emphasised practical diagnostic skills. The third session, “Commonly Used Organopathics in Practice,” explored the indications, scope, and clinical utility of organopathic remedies in day-to-day homoeopathic practice.

The sessions witnessed active participation from undergraduate and postgraduate students, interns, faculty members, and practising homoeopaths.

The programme concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session during which Dr. Banerjea addressed numerous clinical queries and shared practical insights drawn from his extensive clinical experience.

In his concluding remarks, Dr. E. S. J. Prabhukiran thanked the resource person, dignitaries, organising committee, and participants for making the Dr. M. L. Dhawale Memorial Seminar 2026 a memorable academic event. He said the seminar successfully reinforced Dr. Dhawale’s enduring ideals, inspiring participants to strive for excellence in clinical practice, research, and compassionate patient care while contributing to the continued scientific growth of homoeopathy.

The programme was compered by Dr. Parvathynandarajan and Dr. Mubeen Jakati, who ensured the smooth conduct of the proceedings throughout the day.
