Dr Sindhu Priya of Yenepoya Pharmacy College is First Scholar to earn a Ph.D

Mangaluru: As a remarkable achievement, Dr Sindhu Priya ES, a dedicated scholar at Yenepoya Pharmacy College & Research Centre has made a significant breakthrough in the field of pharmacy. She has become the first scholar to earn a PhD degree under the Faculty of Pharmacy at Yenepoya (Deemed to be University), marking a remarkable milestone in her academic journey.

Dr Sindhu Priya’s groundbreaking research, under the guidance of Dr Roopa P Naik, Professor and HOD, Pharmacology Department, Yenepoya Medical College focused on “Preclinical Studies of Neuroprotective Activity of Pyrazole Derivatives Against Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury in Rats.” This study was supported by Dr Prema Saldana and Dr Mohammed Gulzar Ahmed.

This innovative work is expected to have a profound impact in the field of neuroprotection and could potentially lead to advancements in the treatment of cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury.

To celebrate this significant achievement, Dr Sindhu Priya was honoured and felicitated by the Karnataka Arya Vysya Mahasabha in Bangalore on November 5, 2023.
