Kolkata, (IANS) It may be the home ground of Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) but the Eden Gardens on Sunday gleamed yellow as a capacity crowd welcomed one of their favourite son-in-laws, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Cheers of “Dhoni, Dhoni” reverberated the arena as CSK locked horns with the Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) final. Mumbai Indians (MI) too had their share of cheers and love as the crowds kept on chanting “MI, MI”.

Dhoni’s wife Sakshi has stayed and studied in the eastern metropolis for several years. Dhoni drew loud cheers too at the toss as he had the flip of the coin going his way.

“I am here for MS, he is coming back to the city that loves him, happy ‘jamaishosti’ to the skipper,” Sneha Kakkar, a marketing expert told IANS though her friend was in a Mumbai Indians T-shirt.

Rohit did not draw as many cheers as Dhoni did but he did not have shortage of support as a bunch of Mumbai supporters had the name ‘Rohit’ printed on the back of their jerseys.

Both the skippers have fond memories of playing at the hallowed ground.

Besides scoring a record-shattering ODI double-century while playing for India, Rohit also led Mumbai Indians for their only IPL crown here in 2013. On the other hand, Dhoni has scored two of his six Test centuries at the venue and averages a stupendous 91.
