Eden Club Holds District-level Shuttle Badminton Tournament for Women
Mangaluru: The district-level Shuttle badminton tournament for Women was held at the Eden Sports and Aquatic Foundation here on November 13.
The tournament was inaugurated by the police inspector of Kadri Station, Maruti Nayak, along with Dr Deepak Shedde and Vincent Sequeira.
The Prize distribution ceremony was held at the Eden Sports and Aquatic foundation. Event co-ordinator Mahesh Kamath read out the winners list.
Addressing the gathering Ln Umesh Prabhu said, “The Eden Sports and Aquatic Foundation is conducting a lot of activities in the club for the members. Such activities will help the budding players to improve their level of confidence. I congratulate the club members especially sports coordinator Ivan Pinto for his initiative in conducting sports for women”.
President of KCCI Jeevan Saldanha said, “I congratulate the entire Eden club members for conducting the tournament. The back to back matches were very interesting and all the women played well. It was very interesting to watch the final matches which were very tough but the women played well. I also congratulate all the winners, it was a great tournament.”
The proprietor of www.magnalorean.com Violet Pereira said, “I would like to congratulate the organisers for having organised a tournament for the women. The mother and son shuttle badminton match was interesting to watch. Winning and losing is part of the game but the participation really matters. Today the organisers have thought of the women and given them an opportunity to exhibit their talents in sports”. She congratulated all the winners as well as the organisers for the great initiative.
Manager of Eden club Commander G P Mascarenhas, the member of the club Ashwati and sports co-ordinator Ivan Pinto were also present. Secretary Sudhir Kumar Jalan compered the programme.
Twenty-one teams participated in the tournament. The winners of the District-level Shuttle badminton tournament are as follows:

Winner – Sunitha and Praveena
Runner up – Kiruba and Vidhya
40 plus:
Winner – Sunitha and Praveen
Runner-up -Shoba and Averyl
Mother and son
Winner- Laverna pinto and Larren pinto
Runner-up Nirmala Hegde and Tarun Hegde
