Ex-Commissioner of Udupi CMC Manjunathaiah Suspended for Disproportionate Assets

Udupi: The Udupi City Municipal Council’s former commissioner Manjunathaiah has been suspended from service in connection to charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to his known source of income.

The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team had raided the houses and property of former Udupi City Municipal Council Commissioner Manjunathaiah in Udupi on 28 December 2018 and registered a case against him. During investigations, ACB found the accused to possess more assets than his sources of income. Presently Manjunathaiah is working as a lecturer of Government teachers training center, Mangaluru.

In this regard, the ACB SP had submitted the documents of the investigation to the government seeking a proper departmental disciplinary action against Manjunathaiah.

The Department of Education has reviewed documents and found that Manjunathiah has assets more than the income from all sources. As per the documents he has earned 89.40% assets more than his income.

Following all these reasons, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Education has issued an order for immediate implementation of the department’s inquiry against Manjunathaiah and suspended him from service until further orders.
